Extension Master Gardener Demonstration Gardens at the Historic Courthouse Square in Dobson
The Pollinator Garden
Pollinators include bees, wasps, moths, butterflies, birds, flies, bats and other small mammals. We can thank these pollinators for one out
of every three bites of food that we eat. But today, at least 40% of insect species are threatened with extinction, including many pollinators.
This pollinator garden was designed to support our native pollinators by including:
• plants native to our region
• a variety of plants flowering and providing nectar throughout the growing season
• butterfly and moth larval host plants
• native grasses for shelter and nesting sites
